20% IR3535®
IR3535® has been on the market since the 1980s. It is derived from natural sources based on the amino acid B-alanine (a component of Vitamin B5). This inhibits an insect’s sense of smell and taste – IMPEDING their interest in thinking of you as a suitable meal.
Patented staytec™ Controlled-Release Technology
This patented technology is the most crucial and exciting portion of Impede. The lotion is formulated from plant-based ingredients and is eco-friendly. There are no harsh chemicals or irritants. This simplistic and highly effective solution remains active for an extended period while minimizing absorption through your skin.

Learn More About STAYTEC™ Technology
Why do we say impede has long lasting protection?
Powered by Staytec’s patented technology, IMPEDE is formulated to evaporate slowly. This means it stays on your skin longer to protect you and your family for up to 14 hours, wherever you are, every day. One application of IMPEDE protects you for almost 2x as long as commonly available competitors who used DEET as main ingredient. This makes IMPEDE economical with only 1 application verses multiple applications of other ingredients.
How does the average protection time compare to other repellents?
1) STAYTEC™ is designed to slow evaporation and limit skin absorption of the active ingredient, IR3535, providing 14 hours of repellent protection. Contact us to check availability in your region.
2) Many natural repellents use derivatives of the most common natural active ingredients such as Citrolella and Lemon Eucalyptus. Typically, the actives in raw form and their natural derivatives can be moderately toxic and irritating depending on the dose.(*) Insect Repellents containing natural actives are classified as Minimum Risk Pesticides and no EPA registration is required. The average protection time shown has been validated by the EPA and it could be lower.
Why do we say Impede is a lotion?
Impede has a higher content of water so it is less vicious than creams which tend to have more oil resulting in a thicker consistency. Being a lotion helps with a better viscosity and texture, easier and even application.
